The Mandolin is a small stringed musical instrument in the lute family. It evolved in the 18th century in Italy and Germany from the 16th century mandora.
The strings of the instrument have to be properly strung to produce a particular sound that fits well with the music. The length, number and thickness of the strings affects the instrument's sound. Some types of stringing give an edge to the bass and some give an edge to the higher pitch.
